Famous Base Jumper Felix Baumgartener
Felix Baumgartner or “Fearless Felix” is another famous Base Jumper. He is sponsored by Red Bull for a couple of his jumps, and is famous for the dangerous nature of his jumps. He was born on the 20th of April 1969 in Austria. Felix got introduced to skydiving in the Austrian army where he spent his time practicing canopy control, skydiving and landing on small target zones (the usual disciplines used in military jumping). He set a couple of records in his life including:
- 1999) first human to base jump from the Petronas Towers (highest Base Jump)
- 2003) crossing the English Channel using a wingsuit
- 2005) The lowest Base Jump ever from the Christ the Redemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
- 2007) He also became the first person to jump of the taipei 101 Tower, the tallest building in the world.
