Famous Base Jumper Slim

Sadly at the time you will read this, Roland “Slim” Simpson is already dead. He died on the 5th of October in 2004 in China. Due to a parachute malfunction he crashed into a building doing a wingsuit base jump of the tallest skyscraper in China during that time.

Australia born Slim became a base jumper after doing sky diving for years. He was a tandem as well as wingsuit instructor. He did almost as much jumps as Dwain Weston did in his life (over 1,000). He also took a couple of title at the US nationals in 98 and 99. Even after a really bad injury in 2001 he continued base jumping.

Below is a tribute video of his best jumps. I tried to write up a good summary of Slim, if you want to know more, you can head over to wikipedia, they have only a small amount of information though.

I watched a BBC documentary on him once, but sadly can’t find it any more. I will update this page once I find it again, if you know anything please email me!
